train beyond your defaults

In software, a default setting is the automatic choice unless you intentionally change it.

Humans aren’t much different.

We default to familiar thinking.

Familiar behaviours.

Familiar movement patterns.

Shrinking.

People pleasing.

Avoiding discomfort.

Sticking with what feels safe — even when it no longer serves us.

And the body does it too.

Compensation.

Poor alignment.

Avoiding the movement you’re weakest in.

Repeating patterns that keep you stuck.

Change requires intention.

Discomfort.

Awareness.

Practice.

Sometimes even letting go of the people or habits that benefited from your old defaults.

That’s what real training is.

Not punishment.

Not random sweat.

Not chasing the burn.

It’s choosing a better pattern — physically and mentally.

Every client who walks through my door is making that choice, whether they realise it yet or not.
