Slow is the new fast!
I'm in a bit of a weird place right now..
I started Marathan training at the beginning of the year, and it feels strange.
I'm curently reading a book called 80/20 running, have you heard of it?
Bascially you do 80% of your training at a low intensity.. and 20% at a high intensity.
Currently sitting at an average pace between 5:55-6:25/km I feel soooooooooooooo slow, this pace feels foreign to me and (excuse my dramaticness) unworthy.
Last year i was running an 5:06-5:20/km which felt easier.
The book talks about how we get into a rhythm thats not to uncomfortable but manageable... a moderate intensity.... which by the way, actually slows your progress in the long run.
I complete understand the concept, but a slow pace feels like i'm getting no where fast... literally!
Its actually socially unacceptable, as most are smashing 3-4/km and yes this is me comparing myself to strangers!
I'm human and at times.. well.. I can slip into the comparison trap myself.
After my battle run, I eagrly check my STRAVA and i'm like,
Girl you suck!
I'll scroll through previous runs comparing every split and i'm like, your so bad!
My mindset has gone from YAY to NAY, no wonder my runs feel like a battle.
As I said before moderate training inhibits your progress in the long run, in fact studies have shown that ZERO improvments were made compared to a 80/20 split....
Thats so intresting.. it got me thinking about life itself..
Our lives are run on autopilot, most of us are going at a moderate intensity, which is probably faster than we can manage.. but we're used to quick!
Fast is celebrated..
Quick results
Fast pace
66 days to change habits.. that you havent really changed because you need to address the route cause instead of "change" a behaviour
We're moderately comfortable

No wonder slow feels wrong.
I think pride is a thing here, I've recently realised how proud i am actually am, i take great care in everything i do..
I have such a passion for fitness and running is like a new lease of life for me.. (minus the uneccesaary pressure i put on myself)
Theres trust involved in the process..
Trusting that I'll increase my capacity to run this race.. and a believe that no matter what it looks like right now i'll get faster.
Not just for this marathan but life itself, with my ultimate reward being heaven.
"Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us"
Hebrews 12:1
Slow is the new fast!
Why i'm running a marathon 💞
I'm running 52K in memory of my precious Mum and raising money healing clinic in Totness, Devon.
Shes so stubborn and was adamant she was going to go there, but sadly she was to unwell, she passed away on the 24th October 2021.
Mentally im already uncomfortable doing life without her, but now adding the phyiscal side, i i'll be honest is tough.
Iill embrace this season and call it uncomfortable.
I can do this, I can do ALL things through the one who made me who I AM, the I AM x
