The importance of self care

Mum

I’ve neglected myself so much lately, I’ve fallen back into my old way of thinking & doing.

Thinking I’m superwoman…

Thinking i'm superwoman, which I’m not!

Although she’s very cool & I’d love a cape 😂

We weren’t designed to rescue & save everyone from everything all the time, it’s beyond our human capacity, and it’s actually Gods job 😉

I’m sure you’ve seen the reels & countless posts on Social Media quoting this..

“ Put your own oxygen mask on first”

What does that even mean you say..

It means if you don’t take care of yourself, then you won’t be able to take care of anyone else.

You won’t physically or mentally have it in you.. & that’s the truth.

Each time you push past that, you take away a bit of yourself & that’s not okay!

Mums… long gone are those days where running ourselves into the ground should be worn as a badge of honour.

Sometimes our kids should hear the word “no” or “ I can’t” it’s healthy for them, helps them to understand life, builds resilience, develops their character and empathy.

I know it can be hard to say no.. as we don’t want to let them down… but that’s the good old “Mum guilt” kicking in 🙋🏾‍♀️

They’ll survive & so will we!

Struggle with self care?

Start small,

Just 10 mins scheduled into you day, something you enjoy.

Whether that’s journaling, catching up with a friend, exercise or just having a coffee in peace, make it yours!

Then build from there 💞

So much love as always
